Standing desk vs regular desk for productivity?

My back is killing me after years of sitting. I'm debating switching to a standing desk full-time. Is it actually better for productivity, or just a fad? I'm worried I'll just end up more tired and distracted. Does the type of standing desk matter? Are there any must-have features I should look for? I'm on a budget, so expensive motorized options might be out of the question.

Alternating between sitting and standing is key; standing all day can be just as bad. Get a desk that adjusts easily. Productivity gains are individual; some find it helps focus, others don't notice much difference beyond physical comfort. Prioritize ergonomics (monitor height, keyboard position) regardless of sitting or standing.

Standing desks can boost productivity for some by improving energy levels and focus, but it's not a universal solution. Start with a basic adjustable height desk or converter to see if it suits you before investing heavily. Proper posture and regular breaks are crucial no matter which desk you use. Consider an anti-fatigue mat.
