Florida vs Texas cost of living?

I'm relocating for work and trying to figure out where my dollar stretches further. I'm in tech, so job opportunities exist in both states, but housing costs and taxes seem wildly different. How do they really stack up for someone earning around $120k?

Texas generally has a lower cost of living than Florida, especially regarding housing. You'll pay significantly less for property taxes in many parts of Texas, but Florida has no state income tax, which is a huge plus. Groceries and utilities are comparable. It really boils down to where in each state you're considering and how much house you need.

Texas generally has a lower cost of living, especially when it comes to housing and property taxes. However, Florida has no state income tax, which can offset some of those higher costs, depending on your income bracket. Groceries and utilities are fairly comparable between major cities in both states, but insurance costs (home and auto) tend to be higher in Florida due to hurricane risk.
