For snow, both are competent with AWD and winter tires, but the RAV4 has a slightly more aggressive AWD system in some trims that might give it an edge. Long-term, both are excellent, but Toyota's reputation is arguably a bit stronger for bulletproof reliability over very long periods. That said, CR-V is no slouch either. Resale will be similar, but historically, Toyota tends to hold value slightly better, though that can fluctuate with market conditions.
